This Sark poster sums it all up for me when it comes to how I view money. I also think it’s super appropriate considering our economic climate. The issue of money brings up so many fears in people, and seeing as fear blocks our intuition, creativity, and general ability to see opportunities, it’s time we as a whole society changed the way we view money.
Many coaches and speakers have been writing about the concept of money and how our obsession with money as a means to make us happy has resulted in the imbalance that is taking place right now.
I could talk about many things but, as part of my aim to encourage people to face their fears and be more relaxed about money, I have chosen to talk a little bit about what I have learnt about money this past year.
I used to never appreciate money. never really understood where it came from, or ever thought about any kind of value attached to it. I did work for money, I always had odd jobs when I was at school, although I worked to be around people and the money always came with it as a result. I never worried that I would be without money. I did buy material things with it, I frittered it away on make up, perfume, lunches with friends. I was really generous with my money, always paid for things when we went out with friends and it simply never ever crossed my mind to save.
Looking back maybe it was the people pleaser in me that automatically paid for things. However it did give me joy being able to do that. Maybe deep downed I believed that what I had to offer in friendship wasn’t of much value.
I still like to earn money, and I still like to spend it on people. But I think I do it more consciously nowadays, it’s because I truly like the person and I truly believe that what you put out there you get back, it’s not driven by some subconscious desire to please, and I don’t EXPECT anything in return specifically from that person, I just believe generally in the law of abundance, that the universe will find a way of giving back what we put out there.
Nowadays I think one of the main shifts that has taken place with me is that I no longer see money as the ultimate exchange of services. I see money as only one form of energy that provides the means to abundance in your life.
I also know that, whilst money is something we all deserve to earn, I also believe that we shouldn’t place so much significance on the stuff. I know from experience that you should NEVER do any job “for the money” and I have complete faith and trust in the concept that if you do something you love, if you find your souls purpose, then the money will always follow. The trick is to ALWAYS trust, I know that because ultimately I have always trusted, and the money has always followed. That’s one of the beautiful lesson’s of life that I have learnt.
So the lesson here is, don’t think about money, find our what makes your heart sing, follow it, and watch abundance flow back to you.
